Questions worth answering before you need the evidence
Digital evidence is only useful when its limits are as clear as its strengths.
Is Attestarium a copyright registration service?
No. Attestarium records evidence about digital material and related declarations. It does not adjudicate copyright ownership or replace a court or official intellectual-property register.
Does Attestarium receive my file?
In the Proof-only workflow, no. Your browser calculates the file hash locally and sends the fingerprint and the evidence details you choose to include. Future Vault workflows are separate and explicit.
Can I change sealed evidence?
No. A sealed evidence record is immutable. Corrections, new versions and later events should be appended as new evidence or events so history remains visible.
What happens if I cancel a subscription?
Cancellation stops future paid service and future credits. It does not rewrite the historical fact that an evidence seal happened. Ongoing online preservation or hosting can expire according to the applicable service term.
What is a DDEP package?
It is Attestarium’s portable Digital Deposit Evidence Package. It contains the canonical evidence material and the cryptographic information needed for the supported verification checks.
Is every timestamp a qualified electronic timestamp?
No. Attestarium distinguishes its own platform time, independent anchor time and an EU qualified electronic timestamp. A qualified timestamp is only shown as such when returned and validated from an appropriately configured qualified trust service provider.
Does verified identity prove ownership?
No. Identity verification strengthens the statement about who deposited or declared something. Ownership remains a separate claim that may need contracts, assignments or other evidence.
Can someone search Attestarium using my file hash?
Not through a general public hash-search function. That would allow outsiders to probe whether confidential material had been deposited.
Who is the service for?
The launch model is business-to-business. Freelancers, sole traders and professionals can use it in their professional capacity.
What if Attestarium changes domain or server?
Evidence identifiers are designed around a permanent issuer identity rather than a domain name. Portable packages are intended to remain verifiable through migrations.
What happens if I lose a Private Vault key?
For a Private Vault entry, permanent loss of the customer-held recovery key can make that stored original permanently inaccessible. The evidence record remains valid; only access to that encrypted original is lost.
Can support staff edit an evidence seal?
The product is deliberately designed without a normal support or admin workflow for editing a sealed evidence record. Operational restrictions and later status events are separate from the immutable historical record.
